Mountainland Association of Governments

Designated as the Mountainland Association of Governments (MAG) for the central region of Utah, MAG thrives on seeing the communities in the region grow and succeed. While MAG has several areas of focus, the focus to highlight today is Planning for Growth. MAG is the regional transportation planning group for urban Utah County organized as a Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), and a Rural Planning Organization (RPO Wasatch Back) for Wasatch and Summitt Counties. An MPO/RPO is formed to allow all transportation-related decision-makers a voice in the process of planning and funding regional transportation projects. MAG’s work in Summit, Utah, and Wasatch Counties includes long and short-range projects that incorporate:  

• Transportation Planning and Funding  

• Land-Use Planning  

• Mapping, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), Website Development  

• Trail Planning  

• Air Quality Planning  

• Demographic Data Collection and Forecasting
